What We Believe
Athletes In Action is an inter-denominational Christian sports ministry that holds to historic Christian beliefs including the authority and inspiration of the Bible, the Deity of Christ, the Trinity, and salvation by grace through faith in Christ alone. A more detailed doctrinal statement can be found here. While we do ask that students who lead with Athletes In Action affirm these core beliefs, we also invite involvement from students who do not share our particular theological perspective. You are welcome at Athletes In Action regardless of your background or beliefs.
Athletes In Action
As Collegiate and professional athletes, you understand that importance of physical training. Your coaches are here to make sure that you develop in the physical area. Your professors and academic advisors are here to help develop you in the mental area. However, one area of life that often doesn't get as much attention is the spiritual area. You all have come from different backgrounds, but no matter what your background, the spiritual component of life is very important. Having a grounded sense of your own personal faith can make a difference in your life whether you are facing tough times or making decisions that will affect your future in big ways. Athletes In Action exists to be a spiritual resource for you. We want to help give attention to the spiritual questions and matters that affect your life.
Sports is a universal language. Everyone regardless of race, culture, socio-economic status or religious conviction understands the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. As we work toward the fulfillment of our goal of seeing Christ-followers on every team, in every sport, in every nation, we’re dependent on God to raise up national leaders around the world who will use the platform of sports to bring the gospel to their country. We really believe that entire cultures and nations can be changed for the better as athletic leaders use their unique positions to point others to Christ.
Partnerships with like-minded ministries and individuals are a vital element of our dream of reaching “every.” Whether it’s at global events like the Olympics or World Cup or in a community competition between local teams, opportunities to work together to impact and equip others are abundant
